Do your
research — know what to pay for an item. Retail vs. Wholesale
— what is the correct price? (1/4 of new or less is the
norm) Buying on Amazon can really save you money, because sellers
can offer used versions of books and other items that you want.
Keep a password book. That way your passwords are there and
you don’t forget them. You are following correct advice,
too, of having different passwords for each site you use. Give
feedback to seller if you are satisfied with the order. Also,
wait 7-14 days for Media Mail to arrive. It is even longer for
Parcel Post. The mail can drag along sometimes, and it is not
always the seller’s fault.
About feedback to sellers
Always
work with the seller before leaving feedback or you could really
hurt their selling ability. Give good feedback to your sellers.
They will appreciate it. NEVER give bad feedback before trying
to work it out with the seller first. Sellers will usually bend
over backwards to make things right for you. Wait until you
know for sure that the seller will not help you. Maybe they
are not getting your email. Work through Ebay before you think
of posting a bad feedback. Give it time and Ebay will probably
work any problem out for you.

— join your interest groups to find out more about what
is available online. How to get a deal by sniping — wait
until the last minute and then bid. You can do this yourself
OR you can do it using a sniping program. Only bid what you
can afford — don’t get caught in a bidding war and
spend more than you wanted to. Shill bidding — this is
illegal. That’s when a seller has his or her friend bid
on something to drive the price up to you. If you suspect this,
report it. But they are very strict about this. You should probably
never see it happen.
Other buying hints
Check
your email to make sure you are not missing emails from people
in your automatic email junk filter. Check your other email
folders to make sure. Don’t bid on something that has a
1 or 3-day listing. 7 or 10 day listings are usually legit.
When an item interests you, click to save it on your "watched"
auctions. Ebay will automatically send you auction ending messages.
If you are mad at a seller, never get personal or send a mad
email. They could start sending junk mail to you or worse. Just
let Ebay handle it and block them if you want if you ever want
to sell anything. They will not be allowed to bid on your auctions.
